listeners are instructed to stare the above image (click on it to view a larger version) for the duration of the sound. they should go cross-eyed - aligning the two different colours - for the entire duration. this is quite tricky but possible.

the sound itself is the frequency components of a tibetan singing bowl (used in trance induction and meditative practices), morphed over 6 minutes to the frequency components of the 'mind lock' (a technique used in george lucas' film thx1138; the mind lock - a piercing sound - renders the protagonist thx1138 immobile).
